At the end of December, Miu and I headed to Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province for a relaxing weekend away. Just an hour from Shanghai, Hangzhou is a popular day trip for Shanghai residents and tourists alike. Popular for the world-renowned Zhejiang University, the breath taking West Lake Scenic Area, and the Meijiawu and Longjing Tea Plantations, it’s definitely on my list of must-see cities. Even Marco Polo thought the same!

This travel vlog follows Expat Natt's captivating 48-hour adventure in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, a city just an hour from Shanghai. The journey begins with a quick bullet train ride and a delicious flattened meat pie for breakfast. Lunch is a satisfying steak at Blue Frog in the Kerry Center, followed by check-in at the Pagoda Hotel, boasting stunning city views.
Expat Natt explores the iconic West Lake Scenic Spot, a location Marco Polo famously praised. A visit to the Leifeng Pagoda, accessible via escalator, offers breathtaking panoramic views. A sunset cruise on the lake provides a serene experience, despite the chill. The exploration continues with a vibrant night market offering a taste of local street food.
The next day starts with a visit to Hefeng Ancient Street, although many shops remain closed. A caffeine fix follows before heading to a well-regarded restaurant, Hangzhou Restaurant, for a unique culinary experience. Expat Natt samples local delicacies, including special noodles and fish dishes. A trip to the Meijiawu tea plantations offers a chance to immerse in the region's tea culture and visit local tea houses.
The evening brings a Korean BBQ dinner, a delightful end to a busy day. The final day is a relaxed one, featuring a visit to a charming cafe and a final Italian lunch before returning to Shanghai by train.
