From ancient water towns to futuristic robot butlers, this family's journey through China's most dazzling metropolis is a whirlwind of contrasts and sensory delights.<br><br> They started their day early at an ancient water town just outside the city, a place often called the Venice of the East. The Wanderlust Kids hopped on a hand-rowed boat (£20 for four people for 15 minutes) and drifted along peaceful canals lined with traditional Chinese architecture. They quickly noticed they were the only Western tourists around, and soon became the main attraction themselves—with locals eagerly taking photos of them. What is the water town like?
It's like the Venice of the East with peaceful canals and hand-rowed boats. We were the only Westerners there and people wanted to take photos with us!
