A Paris-inspired neighborhood

Homeless Pelican visits Tianducheng near Hangzhou, a residential area often called “Fake Paris” because of its French-inspired architecture. The project includes an Eiffel Tower replica and a recreation of Place de la Concorde. He walks through streets that include both occupied and abandoned buildings and notices how the architectural theme meets everyday residential life. The video describes a development once expected to house 10,000 people, and notes that it was sometimes called a ghost town. Instead, the traveler encounters working-class families, many employed in nearby factories.

Daily life among the replicas

Homeless Pelican explores park-like spaces, residential areas and a luxury hotel. He meets local people and children and describes the hotel staff and security guard as friendly. The walk includes details such as mailboxes, scooter parking and the atmosphere of the neighborhood. A chicken farm appears within the city, an unexpected combination of agriculture and urban development. The traveler also sees construction areas and partially abandoned spaces, while other streets are lived in and active. He shares a meal of coffee and bread in front of the artificial Eiffel Tower. The visit leaves him surprised by the community he finds and interested in how an ambitious project has developed into a place where people live and work. ## Homes and public spaces

The traveler sees large park-like areas within Tianducheng and observes how residents use them alongside the Parisian-style streets. Mailboxes and scooter parking show ordinary residential routines. He also notices a chicken farm, an unexpected presence in the urban landscape. These details give a different view from the replica landmarks and the partly abandoned buildings. The hotel stop and conversations with staff and security add to his impression that the neighborhood is inhabited, not simply a tourist display. He shares a coffee and bread near the artificial Eiffel Tower and reflects on the contrast between European-inspired design and daily life in China. Some buildings are occupied while others appear unused, and construction areas add to the mixed state of the development.

Tianducheng was originally planned as a residential area, but economic conditions and its location influenced how the project developed. The source notes that it was once described as a ghost town and was expected to house 10,000 people. Homeless Pelican instead finds families living and working nearby. The video includes local children and residents as part of this view of the community. The trip from Poland to the area near Hangzhou is driven by curiosity about the Eiffel Tower replica and the French-style streets, but the most memorable part is discovering how the place functions as a neighborhood.
