Chinese medicine and Wukang Building

Soph begins her final day in Shanghai with a Chinese medicine remedy. Its smell and taste surprise her and cause her to cry and shake, but she says she feels better afterward. She and her friend then visit Wukang Building, a well-known example of European architecture in the city. They celebrate the New Year with ice cream and find free postcards and stamps at a local building. The stop adds a small discovery to a day with limited time before their flight.

Maglev ride and Chinese New Year flight

The travelers head to the airport by maglev train. Soph describes the ride as very fast and powerful, and says it feels as if they are hovering. She gives the acceleration as reaching 300 kilometers per hour in two minutes. The race to catch the flight makes the transport choice practical as well as memorable.

Their takeoff takes place during Chinese New Year, and they see fireworks over Shanghai from the plane. Instead of a large family gathering, their celebration is a modest meal onboard. They later arrive in Beijing, find comfortable airport seating and plan to rest before continuing their trip. The vlog closes with a preview of a cold next destination. The day combines a traditional medicine experience, a landmark, a free postcard stop, an airport journey and an unusual holiday celebration.
