What was the weather like in Beijing compared to Shanghai?
It was much colder in Beijing than in Shanghai; we went from 23°C to a maximum of 13°C, with temperatures dropping to -1°C.
What was the biggest challenge you faced while looking for food?
Finding vegetarian options that suited our dietary needs proved more difficult than expected, especially at the first restaurant we tried.
What was the most surprising thing you found in Beijing?
Probably the affordable Michelin-star vegetarian restaurant and the fact that we could use our foreign bank cards on the subway.
What was your impression of the Hutongs?
The Hutongs were amazing! We loved exploring both the commercialized and quieter, more residential areas, and seeing how the locals live.
What was the highlight of your trip?
Definitely seeing the flag-lowering ceremony at Tiananmen Square at sunset! It was incredible.
