Yunnan completely surprised me 🇨🇳 In this travel vlog, I explore Yunnan Province in China for the very first time, discovering breathtaking landscapes, ancient towns, and some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in China.

I start my journey at Erhai Lake, taking in the peaceful scenery before heading to Xizhou, where I explore the historic old town, take part in a traditional tie-dye workshop, and enjoy a delicious local lunch. From there, we travel to the incredibly charming Shaxi Ancient Town, one of Yunnan’s best-preserved historic trading towns along the old Tea Horse Road.

This episode also includes a visit to the world-famous Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges on Earth and a must-see destination when travelling in Yunnan. The landscapes here are absolutely unreal and offer a completely different side of China that most travellers never experience.

This vlog is a real, first-impression look at what it’s like travelling in Yunnan, sharing honest reactions, cultural experiences, and why this region deserves a spot on your China itinerary.

Travel For Phoebe arrives in Yunnan for the first time and immediately feels the region’s extraordinary mix of beauty, chaos, and culture. The video follows her first 24 hours through Erhai Lake, the ancient towns of Xizhou and Shaxi, a tie-dye workshop, and a meal of fresh Yunnan cuisine, all set against dramatic landscapes and bustling local life. Phoebe observes the lake’s glittering, lake-and-mountains contrast and the whirlwind of photo shoots, cafes, and Alipay-friendly markets that define Erhai’s lakeside experience. In Xizhou she sifts through a lively market, samples a sweet bun with bean paste, and explores ancient shopfronts along a pedestrian street that carries a hippie-chic vibe with tie-dye and crystals. A key moment is trying her hand at a tie-dye workshop, where a gradient pattern becomes a playful, imperfect keepsake. The day then shifts to Shaxi Ancient Town, a well-preserved stop on the historic Tea Horse Road, where the sunset reach is pursued via a yellow tuk-tuk,

My First 24 Hours in Yunnan 🇨🇳 China's MOST beautiful region?!

Phoebe lands in Yunnan and quickly dives into a sensory mix of beauty and chaos. The day starts at Erhai Lake, where the water and mountains create a sparkling, dreamlike panorama, but the scene is crowded with photo shoots and lakeside cafes. She notes the ease of paying with AliPay and enjoys watching locals and visitors mingle along the waterfront. In Xizhou, a busy market and a stroll along ancient shopfronts offer a sense of the region’s history and modern vibes, including a tie-dye workshop that becomes a playful, imperfect craft moment. Lunch brings refined Yunnan flavors—fresh fish, greens, and a fiery, chili-laden dish that tests her tolerance for heat. The afternoon moves to Shaxi Ancient Town, a Tea Horse Road relic with a quiet, timeless atmosphere. A sunset ride in a yellow tuk-tuk and a tea house overlook become meditative pauses before the day ends. The episode doubles as a love letter to Eastogo’s local-knowledge travel style and the people Phoebe meets, who make China feel accessible and deeply human. The day ends with reflections on wanting more time in these places and a promise to dive deeper into monasteries, mountains, and more ancient towns in the next episode. This is Travel For Phoebe’s signature on-the-ground voice, candid reactions, and a growing appreciation for regional textures that shape her China itinerary.
