Are you moving to China?
No, we are not moving to China. We are born and bred in England and will always live there, but we have an apartment in Guangzhou as a base to travel more easily.
What is the most misunderstood thing about China?
The biggest surprises are how safe it is, how clean it is, and that there are no homeless people. Also, the pet culture is strong—Chinese people love dogs and cats.
Has China changed how you see Britain?
Yes, it has made me appreciate the UK more, especially things like pubs and British banter. But China is miles ahead in safety, cashless payments, and convenience.
Do you feel pressure talking about China online?
No, we don't feel pressure. Negative comments just boost the algorithm. We tell the truth about our experiences, and if people have a bad time because we lied, that's on us.
How do your families view China now?
Our families love it. Rian's parents visited Beijing and loved it, and my sister took her kids to Disneyland there. It's hard for people to believe we're all paid by the CCP.
Is there anything in China you'd improve?
The spitting culture and scooters on the pavement. Older generations spit, but younger people don't. And in Shenzhen, mopeds ride on pavements even when there's a separate path.
Have you thought about having children?
We are going through tests for fertility issues, but we don't want to share more until we have answers. We've thought about it more recently and are open to having kids.
Will you continue exploring China?
Yes, we will. We'll be the first travel creators who don't live in China to visit every province. We have an apartment in Guangzhou and plans to explore more.
