Urumqi, Xinjiang, China - Jack and Paige explored the North West region of China and delved deeper into the culture of this autonomous region. We decided to explore the nightlife of Urumqi and started with a street food hunt. Jack practiced some Uyghur language and we ate a sesame chicken leg cooked in a traditional tandoori oven. After learning some new Uyghur words, we moved on to the samsa. The lamb parcels were some of the best street food we've ever eaten. Afterward, we tried some questionable fish on a stick and chicken hearts. It was a culinary adventure as we prepared for a night out. After putting the wrong destination into DiDi, we ended up 11 miles away from Urumqi city and deep in the suburbs where we found a strange nightclub in an industrial estate. The club was beautiful but the vibe was strange. After ordering a drink, they told us we had to pay £250 to stay. We left and found a jazz bar where we enjoyed handcrafted cocktails. Definitely the lamb samsas! They were so juicy and flavorful, and the bread was perfectly textured.
