Wakhan Corridor: China Border, Pamir Mountains Expedition

We continued our journey deeper into the legendary Wakhan Corridor, right along the border with China. Our first stop was the beautiful Bibi Fatima Hot Spring, perched high in the mountains overlooking Afghanistan. After a relaxing break, we drove on to the remote village of Langar — the narrowest point of the Wakhan Corridor, where only 13 km divide Afghanistan’s border with Tajikistan from Pakistan.

There, we met a friendly local who spoke excellent English and shared fascinating stories about the region’s culture and the spread of Ismaili Islam — the dominant faith in this stunning and isolated valley. After an unforgettable day in the Pamir Mountains, we made our way back toward Ishkashim.
