Today we step back in time in Chengdu, China as we visit the Tangchang Hanlin Academy to experience life from ancient China!
We try traditional Chinese calligraphy, test our skills with archery, and even dress up as Han Dynasty citizens for the full experience.

Today we step back in time in Chengdu, China as we visit the Tangchang Hanlin Academy to experience life from ancient China!
We try traditional Chinese calligraphy, test our skills with archery, and even dress up as Han Dynasty citizens for the full experience.
Later, we head into the city to explore Chunxi Road, one of Chengdu’s busiest shopping streets, where we pick up some JellyCats and visit the famous IFS Mall — home to the giant panda climbing the building!
We also head up to the rooftop to get a closer look at the panda’s head and take in the views.
This was one of the most unique and immersive experiences of our trip to China!

Mark and his daughter Holly spend a day in Chengdu, starting with activities at Tangchang Hanlin Academy. They try calligraphy, fan painting, archery and Han Dynasty clothing, then stop at a Confucius temple. After returning to Chengdu, they walk around Chunxi Road and IFS Mall, where Holly looks for collectibles and they go up to the mall roof to see the panda sculpture. They leave the panda-head queue, find pizza nearby, get dessert and fruit, then take a DiDi back to their hotel.

Mark introduces the fourth day of the family's China trip in Chengdu. After breakfast at their hotel, they travel by minibus to Tangchang Hanlin Academy. A guide explains the name Hanlin Yuan and the former resident's connection to the Hanlin Academy in Beijing. Mark and Holly try fan painting, archery, Han clothing and calligraphy; they also stop at a Confucius temple. The family then returns to Chengdu. Holly wants to shop, so they walk around Chunxi Road and IFS Mall, where she looks for JellyCats and other collectibles. They use the mall directory to locate a store and go up to the roof to see the head of the panda sculpture, but do not wait in the queue to get closer. Holly wants pizza, so they find a nearby Domino's in a mall food court. They later get dessert and strawberries before ordering a DiDi back to the hotel.
