Xinjiang is famous for a few things. The capital city of Xinjiang, for example, is the furthest city on Earth from the sea. Huh. Oh yeah, Xinjiang is also famous because the western media widely report the ongoing systematic oppression of the various ethnic communities that live there. For this reason, Xinjiang isn't an easy place to travel and certainly hasn't had a lot of screen time.
