The Sichuan drive to Jiuzhaigou

The creators begin their first China road trip in Chengdu, picking up a domestic-market Lynk & Co SUV. They discover that its controls cannot be switched to English, so the navigation and other menus stay in Chinese. A roadside stop for noodles and snacks breaks up the drive. They say about 400 km remain and hope to arrive around 6 p.m., before sunset.

The route continues through Sichuan's mountains and tunnels. The creators say the drive takes more than six hours, longer than the four to four and a half hours they had expected, and they reach the area near Jiuzhaigou later than planned.

Jiuzhaigou shuttle bus route

The next morning, they enter Jiuzhaigou National Park and describe its valleys as a Y shape. Their route goes along the right side first, back to the central point, then to the left side before returning downhill. They travel by shuttle bus and stop at Arrow Bamboo Lake, Panda Lake, Five Flower Lake, Pearl Shoal Waterfall and Five-Color Pond.

At Arrow Bamboo Lake, they walk about 600 m to Panda Lake, while noting that a bus also runs between the stops. The creators describe seeing clear turquoise water and a waterfall along the way. They also mention a long entry line even though they arrived before the stated 8 a.m. opening time.

Food areas inside the park offer noodles, fast food, a halal restaurant, vending machines and a large food-court area. During their visit, the creators say buses came roughly every five to ten minutes. They remind viewers not to feed the fish or contaminate the water, and say swimming is not allowed at Five-Color Pond.
